The development of a system for training and confirming the professional competence of drivers and managers of automobile companies continues, noted Serhiy Alexandrov, Head of the Department of Technical Regulation in Transport of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, during a round table on the occasion of Road Safety Week.
Over the past year, the Ministry has increased the number of training centers to 26 throughout Ukraine. This has enabled more than 30,000 drivers involved in international freight and passenger transportation to improve their professional competence and confirm their qualifications.
Improvement of the regulation of the market for passenger and cargo transportation services is provided for by amendments to the Law on Road Transport, which, in particular, defines the features of licensing in road transport, in accordance with the provisions of European Union regulations.
It is in accordance with the new regulations that a system for obtaining certificates of professional competence and a mechanism for confirming the impeccable business reputation of road carriers are being implemented.
Also this year, the Ministry established new requirements for buses involved in regular passenger transportation, their comfort and accessibility. These requirements are checked and confirmed during the technical inspection procedure. "Our goal is to gradually upgrade buses used in regular passenger transportation, making them more accessible and comfortable," emphasized Serhiy Alexandrov.
